Abstract

Mobile VR gaming RVs integrate display terminals, graphics computing, spatial perception, game content, network services, and operational support into a limited in-vehicle space, enabling immersive gaming services at dispersed locations. This paper adopts a narrative review approach, organizing research on vehicular or mobile VR systems, key technologies of conventional VR, and the authors' scenario-based comprehensive assessments into a three-tier evidence chain. It examines the application progress in real-time rendering, positioning and interaction, game engines and content deployment, multi-user synchronization, cloud-edge-device collaboration, and intelligent operations and maintenance. The findings indicate that relevant technologies are evolving from local high-performance computing, external positioning, and manual maintenance toward foveated rendering, wireless all-in-one headsets, hybrid positioning, and log-driven operations. The platform value is primarily manifested in deployment flexibility, hardware reuse, and unified management; however, it remains constrained by transportation vibration, recalibration requirements, power supply and distribution, heat dissipation, weak network connectivity, safety and hygiene, and data governance. Most existing evidence derives from conventional VR and adjacent fields, and the conclusions still require further validation through real-vehicle, multi-user, and cross-regional operations.
